Attention Unity School Parents/ Guardians/Caregivers:

With inclement weather season upon us, we are revamping some of our drop-off and pick-up procedures effective 12-15-2011.  Please read these carefully.  Our main concern, as always, is the safety of all children.  Contact the school office if you have any questions.

Entrances and Exits

Unity School’s parking area has two entrances and one exit.  The west entrance is for bus and staff traffic only from 7:30 to 7:55 A.M. and from 2:40 to 3:00 P.M.  All others, please use our east entrance during these times. Please also note that the driveway on the eastern border of the schoolyard is not school property.  Our only exit is located between the two entrances.   Do not block the buses as they exit the school.

Parking

Staff may park in the area south of the maple tree or in front of the gym.   Visitors may park in front of the school at times the buses are not present, but all such vehicles must be moved when it is time for the buses to arrive.  There is also parking available on the east side of the lot.

Morning Procedures

If you bring your children to school, please drop them off at the barricades between the Art/Music Room and the Gym.  The east Gym door will be unlocked.  Students arriving early should sit in their grade’s assigned area of the bleachers.  Those students who do not follow this procedure subsequently will not be admitted into the building before 7:45. The front entrance doors will not be unlocked until 7:45.  Buses will unload and leave the school between 7:45 and 7:55. 

Dismissal Procedures

Students will be dismissed by grade order through the main entrance to the buses at 2:55.  If you wish to pick up your child, please let us know by 2:45 so your child will not be loaded on the bus.  After all buses have cleared the parking lot, all other students will be dismissed through the main entrance.  Please do not park in the spaces reserved for staff.  Also, remember that children are impulsive; we remind them to be alert to moving vehicles, but it is our ultimate responsibility as adults to be sure that we consider children’s safety first.  Thank you for help in making Unity School a safer place to learn!
