Our roads are almost ready, but there are still several gravel and paved roads in the county and several side streets in Metropolis and Brookport that are not safe enough for school bus travel.
Due to hazardous road conditions, Massac Unit 1 Schools will be closed on Friday, January 30, 2026. The district will implement an E-Learning Day. Students should have received instructions regarding their E-Learning activities from their classroom teachers. The latest forecast from the National Weather Service in Paducah, KY indicates that winter weather is still expected to arrive sometime tonight (01/23/2026). It is anticipated that the winter weather will impact school operations next week. We must make daily decisions on school closures, but we are asking our parents to be prepared for an extended school closure next week as a precaution. Should closures occur, Massac Unit 1 plans to implement E-Learning Days. Students have been provided with the necessary resources to complete these activities. If schools are closed on Monday (01/26/2026), please contact your child's teacher with any questions regarding the E-Learning activities.

There is a free meal tonight (1/5/2026) at the Metropolis Community Center located at 900 W. 10th Street at 5:00 pm. All are welcome. Hygiene items and diapers will be given for those in need. Transportation is available by texting or calling (618) 645-0042.

Christmas Spirit Week will be December 15th-19th
Unity's Christmas Program will be held on Friday, December 19th. The program will begin at 12:30. Doors will open at 12:00. There is a 2:00 dismissal this day.
Santa's Workshop will begin on Monday, December 8th and will run through Wednesday, December 10th. Students will be able to shop for their families. Everything will be under $5. Forms will go home today with a shopping list.
Parents Night Out-December 12th from 5:00-8:00. Parent's can drop their students off and then go shopping, dinner or just stay in and relax for a while. We have crafts, movie and concessions will be open.
